Literacy Design Collaborative
"The Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) is an expanding set of classroom teachers, school and district leaders, state departments and state organizations and a wide array of service providers. Harnessing the power of ”group genius,” we are working together to develop our shared framework and build out tasks, modules, and courses that meet the challenges of secondary literacy head on. Together, the many LDC partners are working on an old problem in new, challenging and break-through ways.
The Literacy Design Collaborative is a project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
"Within LDC, students develop their reading and writing skill as they take on teaching tasks that set demanding assignments in science, history, English, or another subject. Teachers build out the approach by filling in LDC template tasks with content appropriate to their own classrooms and then designing LDC that show the skills and instruction students need to succeed. The resources below offer a further introduction to the LDC framework. "
"LDC tools are being used by teachers across the country to builds stronger instruction in science, social studies and language arts."
